Biography

William D. Van Dyke was born in Tennessee in 1837.

The 1850 U.S. Census recorded him in McMinn County, Tennessee, in the household of T. Nixon Van Dyke, age 47, a lawyer, and Ann E. Van Dyke, 36. Children in the household were Penelope Van Dyke, 15; William Van Dyke, 13; Letitia Van Dyke, 11; Richard Van Dyke, 9; John M. Van Dyke, 7; Francis L. Van Dyke, 5; Tho Nixon Van Dyke, 3; and Margaret Van Dyke, 1. All were born in Tennessee.[1]

William D. Van Dyke was married to Anna Mary Deaderick in Washington County, Tennessee, on 16 June 1859. The marriage was solemnized by R. P. W?llo, Presbyterian pastor at Jonesborough.[2]

The 1870 U.S. Census recorded William D. Vandyke, age 33, a lawyer, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with wife Ann M. Vandyke, 33; Annie C. Vandyke, 10; Thomas N. Vandyke, 7; and Francis L. Vandyke (female), 2. All were born in Tennessee. William reported $1,000 real estate and $1000 personal estate.[3]

Wm. D. Van Dyke died at age 46 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 1 August 1883.[4][5]
